July vacation weekends bring 2 lb lobsters to the Maine yard, and damn right, its better than yours. They may treat you, but they usually charge... This place is totally cool, small, and chic, our cashier lady was from Quebec and really funny. The menu for their take out service is really nice as are their outdoor tables sitting on a hill viewing the Atlantic. Im kind of in love with the quaint beauty of this place, and everytime we are in Biddeford Pool we order a few lobsters and eat their hearts out, and vice versa, really...

This small general store also has a restaurant in the back that serves a variety of dairy bar type food (hotdogs, hamburgers, etc), as well as fresh-made lobster rolls. The hamburger is a standard frozen patty, nothing special, but the lobster roll was quite good, if a bit expensive (depending on the current market price). The tables outside are a wonderful place to kill some time on a nice summer day, they look out onto the bay and are quite pleasant (we give the view 5 of 5). If you see a big, hand-wrapped chocolate whoopie pie, make sure you pick one up, the one we had was one of the best we've had; nice and soft, and with just the right amount of filling!

Cool spot with great views. If $ is not an issue than this is a nice place to experience and have some seafood and enjoy a great view. With lobster prices at a supposedly all time low I'm not sure why that cannot be passed along to us consumers? We had 4 SMALL lobster rolls and 3 diet cokes and the bill was almost $70! Lobster rolls were average at best.

This charming waterfront property is a hidden gem known mostly to locals. You can find the usual convenience food fare (times 10) with everything from fresh caught fish, delicious locally baked pies to jars of peanut butter. Diverse and interesting wines and beers and if you need a dog toy, tee shirt or something to dig on the beach..they've got that too. Ada & Beth are the team that make this place tick. They are hands on and always around to answer a question or just have a chat! Did someone say LOBSTA'? Sure. How do you like it? Cook yourself, eat it there, in a soup or in a roll..always fresh and leave you wanting more. I discovered a new tasty obsession this summer in the Southwest Bean burger! YUM!! The gang behind the counter working hard in the kitchen are kids from the neighborhood so please..be patient. Go grab your meal, whatever strikes your fancy and sit outside under a shaded picnic table. The views of the lighthouse and sailboats are breathtaking! No alcohol can be consumed on premises but you can always take your order to go! Got a craving once summer is over...they SHIP TOO!! So many options, so much fun!! ENJOY!

Goldthwaites is a wonderful tourist oriented general store and restaurant in the best Maine tradition. We had Hickory Burger and a Grown Up Grilled Cheese and they were very good. Going back for seafood soon because it looked great. The prices are a little high - but appropriate for the area and in line with a place with many picnic tables where you can eat and linger to enjoy the view. If you're in the area - don't miss it!!!!!!

Super cute off the beating path wooden shack of lobster heaven! We were cruising the coast of Maine and in the mood for local fair. We found Pool Lobster Co. just by driving around. Old barn like market w/ the basics on one side and walk up sea food bliss counter on the other! Place your order, take a seat and they'll call you to pick up via a microphone. Cute. We took a seat outside and took in the fresh Maine air. What lovely view of the boats departing from the Biddeford Pool Yacht Club. We ordered Onion Rings (holy mother of awesomeness... battered when ordered w/ a pepper crackle thin drip batter dough. These things are huge and shareable) Lobster Corn Bisque (Qrt got the last order of the day! And again wowwy!) Steamers (which were super fresh and not sandy) & Friend Fish and Chips (again, super fresh and fantastic!) As it was a Sunday afternoon after the major lunch rush the meal and experience was tops. I can't wait to come back next year!!

Nice little store on the end of the Biddeford Pool. Saw some fudge that I wanted to buy, but it was too expensive ($7 for a little jar), either it's just a locals spot, or it's a tourist trap. Stopped in there for a quick lunch with the girlfriend. Got a couple of cheeseburgers with fries ($20 total) and sat down. Tables and chairs were a little small and uncomfortable. Unfortunately it was raining, or else the view outside would be incredible. Bathrooms are 2 porto-potties in the backyard.

The Pool locals are gonna hate that we are talking up one of the BEST KEPT Culinary Secrets - Pool Lobster (inside of the Goldthwaites grocery store ) and hence driving more people into their tiny remote village (with literally two stores "downtown"). That being said - this spot is definitely worth the drive (15 - 20 minutes from Kennebunkport, 40 minutes from Ogunquit, 30 minutes from Portland). Yes, putting a lobster kitchen into a local grocery store means that the store gets mighty warm, but your quest for the BEST LOBSTER ROLL anywhere can now be fulfilled. (Pool lobster used to be located across the street on the corner, but has since moved inside Goldthwaites). Seriously - couldnotbefresher local Lobster perfectly prepared and lovingly tucked into a local traditional toasted roll with the barest minimum of mayo (just enough to hold it together) and some diced celery to give it a little crunch. Spring for the "Fancy" Chowder (Seriously - that's what they call it). It is THE most flavorful clam chowder that you'll find anywhere. Served with Vermont oyster crackers. My wife and I think that this is THE BEST CHOWDER anywhere. While I didn't have a steamed lobster THIS time, but these people definitely know how to prepare lobsters. Nobody does it better. If you are looking for a carry-out lobster, this is a great one. THE PLACE - there are about 3 tables on the back porch that is glassed in, but walk past them and out the back door / down the ramp, and eat at one of the umbrella covered picnic tables on the lovely lawn that literally stops at the sea where you can watch the sail boats coming and going in "The Pool".

The sole store in Biddeford Pool, featuring groceries, wine, beer and a terrific take out / eat in menu with some of the best seafood dishes in the area. The grocery selections are amazingly diverse, the meat counter offerings are always top quality and breakfast is terrific.

Saw it on Foodnetwork and came here to try...a bit disappointed; it was crowded (probably due to the TV show). The lunch that we ordered: 1. 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 lb. steam Hard Shell lobster 2. Lobster on the Plate (which included soft shell steam lobster, steamers and corn) 3. Fried Clams 4. Seafood chowder. Both lobsters were market price so we didn't even know how much it was - although they posted a sign for various price ranging from 7.99 to 17.99 (it was confusing). Our total was over $90 - cash only (so if you decided to give it a try, bring enough cash). Like the other reviewer said, the view of the Atlantic Ocean was nice - not a lot of indoor seating. The only bathroom was two port-a-san (yeah, my kids didn't want to go in). Parking spaces were limited so we parked on the street. It was an experience.....if you dared to try...sorry Rachael Ray, we won't come back here .

Biddeford has by far and wide the best coastal scenery in Southern Maine. Better than Saco, Kennebunkport, Kennebunk, York -- it's just a lot less spoiled. I'm sure there's some sick views farther up the coast, but who wants to drive that far? At Goldthwaites, the view of Saco Bay and Islands of Biddeford are second to none, especially from their outdoor eating area. You have to go there and check it out. 85 miles +/- from Boston. Food is average. Prices are more appropriate for a joint in Greenwich, Connecticut. Seeing as most people who own houses at Biddo pool are from the NYC area anyway, I guess its appropriate.

Great views, great people. The Tiffany's of convenience stores. HIGH HIGH end of all needs. You pay for the convenience but the food is really exceptional and the service always kind.

This store is always a must-do on my Maine vacation list! They have an amazing variety of gourmet foods. I'm always discovering new items especially to make amazing cheese plates! Delicious fresh muffins in the morning and you can sip your coffee while soaking up the waterfront view!!!

This is a quaint general store in a minuscule hamlet that is Biddiford Pool w amazing views of the inlet out back. Adorondack chairs, picnic tables pepper the lawn. No restrooms (um, I don't consider port o Pottys for the obvious reasons). It's also the The Pool Lobster Co. Try to keep up- This is both store & resturant (ish). The hot/cold food is really good. Fresh steaks, chicken, seafood. Now the store carries everything- high end obscure specialty gourmet items. Excellent sandwiches, burgers, wraps, hot lobster rolls, peppered haddock sandwich is really good. Produce, ice cream, cheeses, salami, local blueberry jam, Chips, crackers, bread, mustards, spices, basic baking needs, etc. Chilled white wines, Proseco, champagne, beer, sodas. Solid assortment of red wines too. Fresh French bread, coffee.

What a charming shop! They are on the pricey side-- 8.99 for some Ben & Jerry's. They have a wonderful breakfast selection as well as lunch-- deli sandwiches, of course a delicious lobster roll and crab cake. Make sure to check out the view in the back-- its stellar. There are table and chairs to eat and Porto-potties which were extremely clean! There is also a wildlife refuge near here with amazing views as well. Not to be missed! Overall, great place for a quick meal when you don't want to lose out on quality beach time. Food is good and will definitely have my return business.

My boys and I really enjoyed our trip to this charming general store yesterday. The man that helped check out our items at the store was super friendly and funny and the marinated steaks we bought for dinner was really tasty and quick to grill.

This is a great little place to eat. I live nearby. I love their grilled salmon salad. You can get your meal to go and eat right on the beach or onthe little porch or right on picnic tables overlooking Saco Bay.

After checking into my hotel in Sanford, we went searching for lunch and decided to turn off the GPS and follow the signs through Kennebunkport! What a mistake that was!?! No offense to Maine, but your signs are silly! Anyway, we ended up in an upscale area (well, it looked like) and literally stumbled upon this place, the Pool Lobster Company. It was a grocery store that also had a grille! I ordered an "adult grilled cheese" which had fancy cheeses, mustard, onions, etc. It was $9. I did ask about the Lobster Roll, and the market price for the day was $14. The food was good. The seats behind the store/restaurant were nice! There were a few tables inside, which gave you a view of the ocean, as well as the seating outside. It was very nice, secluded. It was self service, but the food didn't take very long to make, and the menu was pretty large.
